The CCHS track team participated in the Region IV tournament at Laidley field this past Friday. Here is where they would try to qualify for the state finals to be held on Friday and Saturday, May 20 and 21. The team did not disappoint the fans. Region IV is one of the toughest regions in the state and has some of the finest track athletes. This tournament would pit the best in head to head events. Trevor Armes became the first Region IV champion in the 400 meter dash from CCHS. He also placed second in the 800 meter dash. Armes will be the one to beat in the 400; he has the fastest time notched in the 400 this season and is ranked first in the state. He has a great opportunity to be the first state champion in the sport of track and field from CCHS. Brandon Daniels qualified for the state finals in the 3200 meter run by placing third. David Tanner qualified for the 1600 meter run by placing third at the event. The 4×400 relay team placed second at the event and will have a great opportunity to place high in the state finals. Congratulations to all the qualifiers. Your dedication to the sport has been proven. I don’t believe in luck, I believe hard work and skill got you to this point, now go to the states and bring home some metal.
