John Andrew “Newy” Harvey

Jodie, WV – John Andrew “Newy” Harvey, 41, of Jodie, passed away at his home in the early hours of Saturday, April 23, 2016, after a long illness.
Born February 27, 1975, He is the son of Don Harvey and the late Elizabeth (Dotson) Harvey.
John was a graduate of Gauley Bridge High School, and spent many years serving his community as a Volunteer Fire Fighter and as an EMT. Shortly after graduating high school he joined the Navy where he served as a hospital corps man. John had three major loves in his life that he was dedicated to with a passion, his family, particularly his children, medicine and music. Up until death he was pursuing a degree to become an Osteopathic Physician and he had been a talented musician since he was a teenager.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Ann Harvey, and both sets of grandparents.
In addition to his father, he is survived by a daughter, Keelyn Harvey; son, Liam Harvey both of Gauley Bridge; brother, Anthony “Tony” Harvey (Becky) of Eleanor; sisters, Tamala “Tammy” Johnson of Jodie, Barva Queen (Tracy) of Charlton Heights, as well as many extended family members and friends.
John wished to be cremated and that his ashes be interred at Rich Creek Cemetery near his mother’s graveside.
A Memorial Service was held 6 to 8 PM, Thursday, April 28, at Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge.
Pennington Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Harvey Family.
