Senior Celebration Parade to take place this Saturday

By Betty Gandee

Graduation, prom, and all other important senior year memories were derailed in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic.  One group in Clay has stepped up to make sure that these seniors are recognized.

Deliciously Vivid has worked for several weeks to get banners with full pictures sponsored, printed, and hung in town for all to see.  Along with the banners, this group has organized a senior celebration parade to showcase fifth, eighth, and twelfth grade graduates.

On Saturday, May 9, at 12 noon, this parade will celebrate the huge accomplishments of graduating Clay County High School students, as well as Clay County fifth and eighth graders.  All high school seniors, fire department members, EMS employees, school board members, CCHS staff, and more are invited to ride in the parade.

Decorate your vehicles with senior accomplishments, hopes, dreams, college ambitions, anything to recognize your senior. The parade line up will be at 11:30 a.m. at the old IGA/Subway, and they are inviting all families to make signs supporting, congratulating, and celebrating CCHS Seniors to hold up for seniors to see as they pass by. It is important to remember that some Seniors will not be able to attend graduation due to going to basic training.  So, this is the only community celebration they will receive.

Deliciously Vivid would like to remind everyone planning to attend to remember social distancing is still in effect.  Do not stand close to anyone, be cautious and respectful of others in every sense.  Please contact Deliciously Vivid on Facebook or by contacting Vanessa Dungigan to be added to the parade lineup.  If you don’t have a vehicle to ride on and would like to participate, they will assist you in finding one.

Come out and support these graduates and show them your appreciation for all their hard work and accomplishments!
