On Tuesday evening, the Board of Education honored Mr. Robert Morris for his 37 years of dedicated service to the students and community of Clay County.
Below is the statement shared by Superintendent Philip Dobbins during the recognition:
Mr. Morris’s career is a testament to dedication, excellence, and the profound impact that one teacher can have on countless lives. Over his 37 years of service in Clay County Schools, he has shaped generations of students, inspiring them to reach higher, work harder, and contribute to their communities.
Among his many achievements, Mr. Morris has been named a Clay County Teacher of Excellence, the Clay County Teacher of the Year, and the West Virginia State Teacher of the Year — distinctions that speak not only to his skill as an educator but also to his heart for students and his unwavering commitment to their success.
Beyond the classroom, Mr. Morris has coached numerous West Virginia State FFA champions, as well as national-level winners and champions. His guidance has helped students realize their potential and achieve success on some of the largest stages in agricultural education.
Throughout his career as a teacher, coach, CTE Director, and Assistant Principal, Mr. Morris has demonstrated integrity, leadership, and a genuine love for both education and community. He has worked tirelessly to strengthen the partnership between our schools, local businesses, and families — always with the goal of bettering opportunities for Clay County students.
Though graduated from Hundred High School, over the past 37 years, Mr. Morris has truly become one of us — a cornerstone of Clay County Schools and a beloved member of our community.
Mr. Morris, on behalf of the Clay County Board of Education, we thank you for your exceptional service, your steadfast commitment, and your lasting influence on the lives of so many.
