The Bob Stover Classic wrestling tournament will be held at the CCHS gym on Saturday.

The tournament, named after coaching great Bob Stover, has seen over the years some of the best wrestling around.  It has also had some of the best matches on any mat anywhere. It has always been hard to come in to the Panther den and whip them out.

If you have ever been to a Bob Stover Tournament, you got to see some of the best gut wrenching, heart thumping, passionate action, if you wasn’t there then you missed something that you rarely see in today’s world, individuals struggling against all odds, not for power, fame or money, but sacrificing muscle, bone, and blood for family and friends.

I could list all the matches that have been on the mats but it would take the whole paper.   There have been state champions who have passed through the halls of CCHS at one time or another. The Bob Stover Classic is a great tournament, a great testament to unwavering will of the wrestlers who come to compete.  While the number of teams that will compete this year is down, the quality of teams will be good. Coming to the Classic will be Clay, Braxton, Roane, Ritchie, Poca, Midland Trail and Webster, hopefully more will sign on this week. So, if you get the chance, come out to the Bob Stover Classic and enjoy some good wrestling.
