A former federal corrections officer has been sentenced to up to 15 years in prison for a drug charge. James Butcher, of Fayetteville, received a one to fifteen year sentence Monday as well as a $5,000 fine for his role in a prescription pill distribution scheme. According to court records, Butcher and his girlfriend Misty Goodwin, were purchasing prescription pills in Clay County and transporting them to Fayette County to be sold. Butcher pled guilty to one felony charge of delivery of a controlled substance after his arrest in August of 2013.
