The Lady Mustang softball team was home against Summersville Middle this past week. The girls held onto a tied up ball game at two all until the fourth inning when the wheels came off. The Lady Bears were putting it on and scored eight runs in the fourth inning to go ahead of the Lady Mustangs 10-2. The Lady Mustangs came back with a run of their own, but it wasn’t enough and they were defeated 3-13. Next up was Braxton Middle, and the Lady Knights were on top 9-0 as the Lady Mustangs couldn’t keep the errors in check, racking up six in the first two innings. The third inning was a different story. As the dark looming clouds began to cover the horizon and only one out on the books, the Lady Mustangs heated up and started splitting hickory. Lidia Lynch started off the run of hits with a single and was on base. The hits were flying off the bats, and the last one hit was a double by Alexis Williams. However, that was to be it for the ball game. Lightning began to get a little too close for comfort and the game was called, but not before the Lady Mustangs scored five runs and left one on. The game will be finished at a later date if all works out. The Ladies will be at home again on Wednesday and on the road at Nicholas County on Thursday. If you get the chance, get out and see a game.
