Route 4 Update
Travelers of Route 4 towards Ivydale have noticed some improvement in the road conditions, but the problem is still a long way from being fixed. This past year, a section of the road was stripped down and repaved to repair numerous potholes along the route. However, the worst section of the road was left in dismal condition and is still very hazardous to drive. Those required to drive the treacherous stretch and frustrated and want answers. When will the road be safe for travel?
Concerned about the situation for Clay County residents, Delegate Dave Walker wrote a letter to Paul Mattox, the Secretary of Transportation and Commissioner of Highways to inquire about the status of the completion of the paving project. In a response, Mr. Mattox advised that the design phase is currently being finalized and the current plan is for the project to be bid in February 2014 with work beginning as early as spring 2014.
The project will result in the continuation of paving of Route 4 up to the intersection of Mount Home Road.
