Panthers and Lady Panthers crush Calhoun Red Devils and Lady Red Devils.
The Calhoun Red Devils and Lady Red Devils blew into town on Thursday to take on the Panthers and Lady Panthers. First up, the Panther baseball team has been trying to get into a winning pattern but have been struggling to get there. Three out of the last five games have been cancelled for one reason or another and the sun’s heat has taken a powder. However, Calhoun was here to further the losing streak of the Panthers, but it was not to be on this day. The Panthers’ sticks heated up as they scattered 12 hits across the diamond and scored 11 runs in the process. Chris Cole was the lead cannon to start the game, the Red Devils cashed in on three hits and one run, and that was it. Cole shut them down the next two innings, Jarrod Woodyard and Dalton Holcomb came in on relief and continued the shut out. Tyler Ramsey, Dalton Holcomb and Jarrod Woodyard brought out the whipping sticks and combined for eight hits and four RBI’s between them. The final score was Clay 11, Calhoun 1. With the weather changing to more favorable conditions for baseball, the Panthers will heat up and continue winning.
The Lady Panthers were next up and it was more of the same. The Lady Panthers sent out ace pitcher Carlie Roat who took command of the hill and delivered some heated pepper across the plate. Lady Panther bats scattered seven hits and had 14 runs cross the dinner plate. Big sticking for Clay was Summer Alley who went 2-3. Braxton and Sissonville will visit on the 2nd of April to take on the Lady Panthers, and it promises to be some good games. If you get opportunity, the ball diamond is heating up. Don’t miss it.
