Mary Audra Hopkins, born May 18, 1925, daughter of the late Earley and Dicy Park Brown, departed this life Saturday, July 17, 2010. In addition to her parents, Audra was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul Lorentz Hopkins, brothers - Stanley Hugo and William Clyde, Glenvil and Denvil Brown, two sisters – Arbustus Brown Brady and Geraline Brown Samples. Surviving are - one daughter, Laura Denise Taylor (Rick) of Ovapa, two sons -- Timothy Benet (Miriam) of Clay and Paul Lorentz II (Leanna) of Valley Fork. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Jeremy, Richard (Rick) and Matthew (Matt) Taylor; Jonathan, Sarah and Michael Hopkins; Carlee and Jacob Hopkins, and 2 precious great-grandchildren--Parker and Addison Taylor. Also surviving are two brothers, Otto Brown of Fola and Ronald Brown of Eleanor, WV and three sisters - Myrtle Belle Arbogast of Elkview, Arlene Kaye Jett of Little Hocking, Ohio and Sylvia Hope Summers of Ovapa and many friends and loved ones who will miss Audra very much. Audra was always a busy person, rising early each day to care for her family. There will never be another biscuit made as good as hers. Fresh out of high school, she began work. She worked in many capacities. As a stenographer (she always praised God for this gift), she worked at the WV Extension office, Elk River Coal and Lumber Company, and the WV Division of Rehabiliation. She retired from Clay County Health Department/WIC division. She and her husband Lorentz also ran an egg and milk delivery business in Ovapa, and a small business in Clay called Hoppy’s Drive In. They also traveled extensively before starting a family - including working in the Boeing Aircraft Plant in Seattle, Washington. Audra taught a Bible Class which she took very seriously at Bethel M. E. Church where she and Lorentz attended. She always helped others and worked to see them saved by her sincere testimony. Most important to her, was her family. She was a devout mother, a grandmother and a true Christian. She encouraged, She shared, She did not judge, She accepted and soothed like a healing balm! And we will never forget her love to us all! Funeral service was held at 12:00 noon Thursday July 22, 2010, at Bethel M. E. Church in Ovapa with Pastor Roger Dunlap officiating. Burial will follow at the Hopkins Cemetery in Ovapa. Kermit A. Rogers, 76, of Newton, passed away Monday, July 19, 2010 in the CAMC – General Hospital, Charleston, after an extended illness.
He was born February 23, 1934, at Newton, a son of the late Rev. Ernest F. and Mabel Tawney Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Rogers; and a sister, Barbara “Bobbie” Beistle.
Kermit was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was an avid sportsman, who loved to raise and train Treeing Walker hounds. He had been a long time member of the Clay County Coon Hunter’s Association and a member of the National Redbone Association.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty Bird Rogers; daughters, Kathleen A. Holcomb of Newton, Cheryl L. Holcomb of Indore and Dawn A. Wilkinson of Unionville, MO; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; sisters, Adele M. Johnson of Santa Maria, CA, Delores Dennis of Ft. Wayne, IN, Dorma K. Bird of Ossian, IN, Charlotte A. Dilno of Albuquerque, NM and Pat Conley of Newton; brothers, Carroll A. Rogers of The Villages, FL and Andrew J. Rogers of Newton.
A funeral service was held Friday, July 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Roy Huffman officiating. Burial will be in the Tawney Cemetery, Newton.

Dove Harden Mosley, 80, of Ovapa, entered into rest July 20, 2010, at home.
Born March 25, 1930, in Ashland, KY, she was the daughter of the Jay and Annie Cole Keen. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenton Mosley; sons, Clarence, James and Robert Mosley; daughters, Lula Collier and Valarie Mosley and two twin daughters.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her sons, Joseph Mosley of Summersville, John Mosley of Lorian, OH, Kenton Mosley, II of Ovapa and Willie Mosley of Looneyville; daughters, Nancy Hager of Cleveland, OH, Carol Adkins of Ovapa and Joyce Mechling of Sutton; 4 step-children; 42 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services was held at 1 pm Friday, July 23, 2010, at Wings of Deliverance Church, Procious, with Minister Jerry Hanshaw officiating. Burial followed in Community Memorial Gardens, East Lynn, Wayne County, WV.

Gerald Dee Wyche, son of Elmer Dee and Margaret Arizona (Smith) Wyche, was born on July 31, 1932, in Fittstown, Oklahoma and departed this life on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, on Wyche Mountain in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 15 days.
Gerald married Violet Samples in Arlington, Virginia on Mary 23, 1953. The Lord blessed them with 57 years of marriage. Gerald served his country proudly as a member of the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a rancher and a rodeo stock producer. Gerald was a valued member of the Bell Community and served on the bell School Board for many years. He enjoyed riding horses and the PBR. Gerald was a faithful member of Copic Missionary Baptist Church. He loved his family and always found time to spend with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Mona Arlene Drennan and Conda LaRuth Mathews.
Surviving Gerald are his wife: Violet “Cis” Wyche of the home in Stilwell, OK; Stepdaughter: Brenda Joyce Wartenburg of Stilwell, OK; Grandsons: Gerald Edward Wyche and wife, Crystal of Texola, OK, Dusy Wyche, Jordon Wyche, and Poke Wyche; Brothers: Larry Glen Wyche and wife, Lou Jean of Stilwell, OK, Dale Smith Wyche and wife, Chalon of Ward, AR: sisters: Laura Lou McElroy of Ada, OK, Emma Sue Jordan and husband, Onus of Fittstown, OK, Hellen Juanita Sherrill of Ada, OK. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends and an extra special friend: Indian Boy.

John Darrell "Bingy" McClung, 76 of Jodie died, Wednesday July 21, 2010 at home.
He was born March 1, 1934 to the late Melvin and Dottie McClung.
He was a Construction worker for Local #1353 and a coal miner. He was a Jehovas Witness by faith, and a Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Donna McClung of Jodie; daughter, Robin McClung of Summersville; sons, Richard McClung of Farmington, VA and Tony Wilson of Jodie; two grandsons, Josh and Colin Neal; two great-grandsons, Zayman and Eric Riley Neal .
Graveside services and burial will be 11:00 AM Friday, July 23, 2010 at the Rich Creek Community Cemetery, Jodie with speaker Thomas Lee McClung officiating. In lieu of flowers family suggest donations be made to Kanawha Hospice.

Jerry Lynn Workman, 59, of Maysel, entered into rest Saturday, July 24, 2010.
Born September 9, 1950 in Fola. He was the son of the late Floyd Connard and Betty Loretta (Price) Workman,
Jerry was a Coal Miner and member of Fola Missionary Baptist Church. He loved his Lord. He liked working in the garden, hunting and just being outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Reba Workman of Maysel, son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Gina Workman of Maysel, granddaughter, Courtney Workman of Maysel, brothers and their wive’s, Clarence and Karen Workman of Rand, Glen and Linda Workman of Bickmore, sister and her husband Etta Jo and Donny Wiley of Gallagher.

Dorcas Gay (Boggs) Charney, 85 years young, of Orrtanna, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Gettysburg. She was the longtime companion of James C. Bigham, of Fairfield.
Born June 3, 1925 in Clay County, WV, she was raised by her parents, the late Thomas Jefferson and Laura Belle (White) Boggs, in Big Otter, WV.
Gay moved to Baltimore as a teenager where she resided for 42 years. Longing for the hills of West Virginia, she moved to Orrtanna where she lived out her remaining years. Gay was a devoted member of Pastor Ken Reid’s Mountain Top Ministries in Orrtanna. She had a God-given talent to write poetry and songs, a few of which were published. Gay was employed at the Fairfield Inn for many years, and she enjoyed traveling and shopping for antiques in her free time.
Survivors include her daughter, Taunnie Novak and her husband Sonny of St. Augustine, FL; two sons, John Wayne Charney and his companion Kate Boston, and Nicholas T. Charney, both of Orrtanna; ten grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; two nieces; and four nephews. She also leaves behind the loving and caring members of the Bigham family.
She was preceded in death by a son, Marc Shannon Charney; and six siblings.
The funeral service was held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, with Pastor Kenneth R.W. Reid and her nephew, Pastor J.E. Boggs, officiating. A viewing was held between 7 and 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A second viewing was held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Sonny Novak, Dennis Boggs, Vincent Novak, James C. Bigham, Jr., Denny Rurick, and Chris Woodward.

Dorothy “Dottie” Lee May, 68, of Clarksburg, died July 24, 2010 at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg.
She was born May 22, 1942 in Braxton County
She is surived by her mother, Rena Stout Priddy of Clay; sons, Joe (Shannon) May and Robert May both Clarksburg; daughter, Sheree (Archie) Bennett of Clarksburg; brothers, Chuck Priddy, Davey Priddy and Danny Priddy; sisters, Linda Sinlayson, Patty Casto, Judy McGlothlin and Pam Priddy; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Harold May; sons, Duane James and Ernest James III; brother, Jimmy.
Service was held at 4 p.m. Monday, July 26 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway. Burial will be in the Stout Cemetery, Frametown.

Andrew Thomas McCune, 33, died July 18, 2010, at 10 p.m. in Mon General Hospital, Morgantown, after a six year battle with kidney disease.
Born in Parkersburg, June 23, 1977, he was the beloved son of Roger and Carolyn Cowger McCune of Parkersburg who survive. He is also survived by the love of his life, Katie Miller of Monroeville, Pa.; his paternal grandparents, Earl and Erma McCune of Ivydale and maternal grandmother, Margaret Cowger of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Fairmont.
Other survivors include his aunts and uncles, Sandra and Roger Rice of Elyria, Ohio, Boyd and Gina McCune of Charleston; Marilyn and Ken Ware of Memphis; his great-uncle and aunt, Doyl and Sandra Cowger of Chesapeake, Va.
Surviving cousins are Vivian, Joe, and Isabella Vacco of Wooster, Ohio; Tracey Graham of Elyria; Allison and Haley Hall and Jason, Morgyn and Dillon Cosgriff, of Mansfield, Ohio; Hannah McCune of Charleston; Aaron, Ivy, Taylor and Remington McCune of Fairfield, Ill., Scott, Emily, Ben and Caroline Ware of San Jose, Calif.; and Kristy, Troy, Hannah and Abigail Styers of Millington, Tenn.
His best friend since childhood Sgt. 1st Class Matthew Gillespie of Savannah, Ga., survives as well as does Bobby, Andrew's buddy and beloved pet of 10 years. They enjoyed many walks together along the Rails to Trails.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Leonard Leon Cowger and his great grandparents, Thomas and Weltha Cowger and Ruby Hall Huhn, all of Fairmont.
On Feb. 22, 2006, Andrew received the greatest gift of his life, the donation of a kidney from Jessica Trippett. Jessie will forever be a part of the McCune family for her gift which extended Andrew's life by four years.
Andrew was a 1995 graduate of Parkersburg High School, received a BA degree in marketing from the University of Florida, and a MA in sports administration from West Virginia University. He also attended Indiana University and did graduate work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed internships with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Washington Wizards and the Capitol City Boomers of Columbia, S.C.
He was a devoted Cincinnati Reds, Bengals, Ohio State and WWF fan since childhood and enjoyed collecting any team memorabilia. Of his varied experience and achievements, the one he enjoyed most was his acting and drama experiences through his agency in Pittsburgh. From childhood through high school Andrew attended Emmanuel Baptist Church where a celebration of his life was held Saturday 3 p.m. The family will greet friends in the church sanctuary from 1 p.m. until time of service.
Officiating will be Dr. Kurt Busiek, the Rev. David Carpenter, the Rev. Gerald Morgan and Dr. William Thomas. A reception for family and friends will follow the service in Fellowship Hall.

Andrew's parents extend a special thank you to the ICU staff of Mon General Hospital in Morgantown for giving Andrew the most compassionate and professional care during the end stages of his life.
Roy Dale Harlow, of Summersville, WV, passed away, at home, on Sunday, July 25, 2010, after a long battle with cancer.
He attended Enon Baptist Church. He was a coal miner, construction worker and was an employee of West Virginia Tire Disposal.
The most important part of Roy’s life was his wife, whom he cherished. He also held dear to his heart, his children and grand and great-grandchildren, his siblings, his extended family, families in law and his many friends.
Next, he loved his Harley. He lived by the motto “Ride to live and live to ride.” Roy was an avid hunter. He loved the sport of hunting deer, bears and turkeys. He never missed an opportunity to go camping and boating. Roy also enjoyed raising grand vegetable gardens and going gen-seining.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Harlow and Dora Inez McCutcheon Harlow.
Roy is survived by his wife, of 32 years, Sonja Faye Harlow. He is also survived by his son, Shawn McBrayer.

KINCAID, GRANVIL RAY, JR, died on Tuesday July 13, 2010, in Panama, Central America. He was born on June 19, 1934, in Dixie, WV, the son of the late Granvil R and Martha Workman Kincaid.
Ray attended Gauley Bridge High School in Gauley Bridge, WV, before entering the Army. He served 20 years in the military and retired in Panama where he made his home.
Surviving are his wife Delores, daughters Cindy, Milly and son Granvil Ray Kincaid III, and three grandchildren. Brothers, Billy Kincaid of Hopkinsville, KY, Bobby Kincaid and Douglas Kincaid, both of Dixie, WV. Sisters, Wanda Kincaid Wright (deceased March 20,2009), Diana Sue Brown Castiglia of Las Vegas, NV, Sandra Bird and Libby Nichols both of Fayetteville, WV.
Louise Bussard, 83 of Calcutta Smith Ferry Road, Calcutta, OH died Friday, June 18, 2010 at her home following a brief illness. She was born in Clay County, WV on November 28, 1926 and was a daughter of the late Daniel and Retta (Sharp) Keener.
Living her entire life in this area she was a cosmetologist and was owner of Bussard Beauty Salon in Calcutta for 50 years, retiring in 2007. She was a graduate of A&H Beauty School, attended Longs Run Presbyterian Church and was very active in the Calcutta Grange.
Her husband, Wendell "Smitty" Bussard, whom she married on December 24, 1950, survives her at home.
Three daughters: Patricia Hall and her husband James of Calcutta, Claudette Beatty of East Liverpool and Linda Lindsey and her husband, Thomas of East Liverpool; one brother: Ezra Keener of East Liverpool; 7 grandchildren: James D. Hall, Gregory Hall, Charles Bosco, Brent Bosco, Alicia Hall-McGown, Anne Lindsey and Elizabeth Janoski and seven great grandchildren: Grant and Tyler Hall, Alivia, Evan and Gracie McGown, Aubrey Bosco and Gage White also survive her.
Besides her parents, three brothers: Harry, John and Junior Keener and three sisters: Hettie Rose, Pauline Hardway and Eunice Knicely preceded her in death.
Services was held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Monday, June 21, 2010 at 1:30 PM with Rev. Stephen Cramer of the church officiating.
Burial followed in Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Rickey Marvin Hanshaw, 50, of Clay, entered into rest Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at his home. Born May 9, 1960 in Sutton. He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Grose) Hanshaw of Clay, son, Joshua Hanshaw of Servia, daughters, Christy Hanshaw of Charleston, Becky Hanshaw of Spencer, brother, Gary Cummings of Charleston, sisters, Charlotte Hanshaw of Procious, Joyce Larch of Bomont, and 5 grandchildren. The Rev. Marvan Given Frame, 84, of Charleston died on July 5, 2010, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
He was born on June 7, 1926, to Norman Benton Frame and Mintie Caroline Frame of Glendon. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Edna Jane Frame of Glendon.
He was a graduate of Gassaway High School's class of 1944 and a WWII veteran, American Theatre of Operations, U.S. Army Air Forces, from which he was honorably discharged. He graduated from Morris Harvey College in 1950 with an AB degree, majoring in English and history, and completed his Master of Divinity Degree in 1955 from Vanderbilt University Divinity School. He was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Letters from West Virginia Wesleyan College and was a Master Mason affiliated with Nitro Lodge 170.
The Rev. Frame enjoyed a 44-year career, from his earliest days as a student minister through his ministry as an ordained elder of the United Methodist Church, where he served various appointments throughout West Virginia. His initial appointment in Full Connection was as associate pastor, Wesley Church in Morgantown, and subsequently as the pastor of Trinity Church in Charleston, Barrett and Bald Knob Circuit, Clay Methodist Church, Mason Methodist Church, Grace Methodist Church in Keyser, Spruce Street United Methodist Church in Morgantown and St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Nitro. He was appointed by Bishop Fred Holloway to serve as district superintendent of the Beckley District that included Boone, Fayette, Logan, Raleigh and Wyoming counties, during which time he also served as a member and secretary of the Bishop's Cabinet. In this later period, he was called to minister to survivors and families affected by the Buffalo Creek Flood disaster. Among his many West Virginia Conference responsibilities included his service as secretary, Board of Missions; secretary, Board of Ordained Ministry; and Board of Governors and secretary-treasurer of Pastor's School.
Following his retirement in 1991, the Rev. Frame remained active in community service. He was elected founding president of Charleston Police Department's Neighborhood Watch Coordinating Committee, a position he held for nine years. During this period, Community Policing was introduced to the West Virginia State Police as well as police departments in Nitro, South Charleston, Williamson and Montgomery. He was honored to have said prayers at the graduation of members of the Citizens Police Academy for a period of 12 years. In addition, he was grateful of his friendship with and leadership of Lt. "Mac" Richard McGinnis, retired, and Lt. Valerie Strege in these CPD Neighborhood Watch activities, as well as the privilege to have served under five chiefs of police including Dallas Staples, Fred Marshall, Jerry Riffe, Jerry Pauley and Brent Webster.
In his retired capacity, the Rev. Frame continued to participate in various clergy functions in support of the Rev. Frank Shomo, Elizabeth Memorial United Methodist Church, as a volunteer chaplain at Thomas Memorial Hospital and in service to many other friends and families. On December 24, 2006, at the age of 80 years, he participated in his 60th consecutive Christmas Eve Service.

Frame and his wife, Leslie, of Charleston, Paul Frame of Chandler, Arizona, Peter Frame of New York City, Jon Frame and his partner, Felipe Sanchez, of Ashville, North Carolina; daughter, Miriam Tinsley and her husband, David, of Versailles, Kentucky; grandchildren, Benton Frame, Noelle Frame, and Lily Frame, all of Charleston, Kaitlyn Tinsley of Palm Desert, California, and Hannah Tinsley and Jennifer Tinsley of Versailles, Kentucky.
The Rev. Frame donated his body to the West Virginia Anatomical Board through the West Virginia University Human Gift Registry to be of service in the training of future health care providers.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 9, at Elizabeth Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Frank Shomo officiating.
The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the compassionate care provided by Dr. Richard Hayes, Dr. Karin Kresa-Rheal, Dr. James P. Tierney, Dr. Rodney Dean, Dr. Matthew Upton and the staff of Quarry Manor. A special gratitude of thanks is extended to Dr. Michael Covelli and staff of Hubbard Hospice House, whose gentle touch and loving care comforted Dad at end of life.

Ralph Hugh Johnson of Richwood died at home on July 6 following a short illness. He was 87. Johnson was born on June 27, 1923, in Grantsville, W. Va. and moved to Richwood as a child where he spent all his life. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Richwood. Johnson will be remembered as a passionate coach, a dedicated teacher, a loyal public servant, and a devoted family man.
Johnson attended Richwood High School, where he excelled in sports and where he would later teach and coach for over 30 years. He graduated high school in 1942 and served in the Coast Guard during World War II in the campaign in the South Pacific.
After the war, Johnson attended Glenville State College and Morris Harvey College, where he played football. He graduated from college and began teaching history and geography at Richwood High School in 1953. He was athletic director for several years, and he coached football, basketball, wrestling and track until 1972.
In 1961, Johnson began a second career of public service; he worked a second job as a deputy sheriff while also teaching. In 1968 he was elected to the Nicholas County Commission, and in 1972, he ran for sheriff and became the first Nicholas County sheriff to succeed himself, serving two terms from 1972-1980. He also won a seat in the West Virginia State Legislature and served two terms in the House of Delegates from 1982-1986. In addition to his public service, he also served as Nicholas County attendance director from 1980 to 1987 and worked with disadvantaged youth in the Workforce West Virginia program. In his seventies he volunteered as a coach for the Richwood Junior High School football team.
Johnson loved all sports and was a loyal fan of the Richwood Lumberjacks. An avid reader and history buff, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, and the Richwood Senior Citizen Center, for which he worked to improve services and facilities.
Johnson is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Teresa Severino Johnson; brother Lacy Hilton and sister Juanita Dempsey. He is survived by his wife Barbara Murphy Johnson; brother Pete Hilton and wife Othella of Cottageville, W.Va.; sister Barbara Thayer and husband John of Beverly, W.Va.; son R. Hugh of Mt. Lookout; son Gary and wife Susan of Richwood; son Stephen of Johnson City, Tenn.; daughter Marsha and husband Mike of Richwood; son Jon and wife Donna of Eldersburg, Md.; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandsons.
A rosary for Ralph Johnson was held at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 9, at the Richwood High School auditorium followed by visitation from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, July 10, at 11 a.m. in the RHS auditorium, followed by interment at the Mountainview Cemetery on Hinkle Mountain in Richwood. Simons-Coleman Funeral Home in Richwood is in charge of arrangements.

Novella Marie "Shorty" Branard Peck, 83, of Ovapa, went home to be with the Lord on
July 7, 2010, at her home.
Born on December 29, 1926, in Davis Creek, she was the daughter of the late Clarence
and Dovie Dean. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her
husbands, Hyman Sherman Branard and Robert Clarence Peck; brothers, Johnny and
Harol; sister, Josephine Sigmon and one great-great-grandchild.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her sons, Sherman Edward Branard of Summersville and Hyman James
Branard of Dixie; daughters, Rachel J. Peck of Ovapa, Wilma Lee Johnson of Rand,
Irene Stella Shafer of Ovapa and Kathleen Sue Pritt of Summersville; brothers, Cecil
Dean of South Charleston and Frankie Dean of Chicago, IL; sisters, Seamay Sampson of
Alabama, Pat Elswick of Red House, and Betty Sigmon of Milwaukee , WI; 19
grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held at 1 pm Friday, July 9, 2010, at Pennington Funeral Home,
Gauley Bridge, with Minister Marco Pritt officiating. Burial will be in the Dixon
Methodist Chapel Cemetery at Mt. Nebo.

Jack was a retired carpenter and a World War II veteran with the Army and Air Force.

Bernice Lea Weaver, 77, of Chester, formerly of Lizemores, passed away July 8, 2010, after a one-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on May 20, 1933, she was the daughter of the late William Bryan and Donnie Edith (Jones) Stone. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Paul Baker; her son, Paul Bryan Baker; and two brothers, Billy Jr. Stone and Russell "Buck" Stone.
She retired after 18 years as a teacher's aide in Clay County. Bernice was always active in her church while living in Lizemores and in Chester. She had been a soloist and music director in both churches.
In addition to her husband, Charles Gary Weaver, she is survived by her son and his wife, Joe T. and Carolyn Baker of Lizemores; her daughter and her husband, Robin L. and Terry Walker of Chester; two stepsons, Chuck Weaver of Zanesville, Ohio, and Mike (Tammy) Weaver of Erie, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Traci Weaver of Zanesville, Ohio, and Erin (Chris) Frame of Indianapolis, Ind.; 10 granddaughters and their husbands, Tara and Todd Nelson, Carla Jo and Michael Wodnicki, Crystal and Ezra Schoolcraft, Kearsten and Darren Hall, Clarissa and Brandon Wright, Bryanna Baker, Taryn and Abbey Weaver and Kaila and Brianna Frame; grandson, Ty Frame; nine great-granddaughters, Brooklyn and Lacey Nelson, Michaela, Olivia, and Alexandra Wodnicki, Addison Schoolcraft, Kami Hall and Hannah and Chloee Walker; great-grandson, Bryce Baker; and soon-to-be great-grandson, William Hall.
She is also survived by her six sisters, Amma Brown, Kathleen Basye, Leatrice Nichols, Nell Jean Simpson, Nadine Brown (Bill) Cogar and Brenda Carver Yakovsky; three brothers, Nick (Betty) Stone, Jack (Alice) Stone and Mike (Carol) Stone; sister-in-law, Betty Stone; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 12, at Lizemores Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in the Stone-Coleman Cemetery, Lizemores.

He was a Veteran of US Navy and the US Air Force having served in WWII., he retired from Elkem Metals Alloy.
