Mustang season ends; Panthers win big
The CCMS Mustangs travelled to Walton Middle School to take on the Knights of Braxton County in the CWVAC Football Championship on Saturday. The wind blew in circles around the field as both teams lined up for the kick off. In the last meeting of the two teams during regular season, the Knights had the run of the game. This day, however, would prove to be more difficult. The Mustangs have been playing some awesome football and have taken their game to a new stage since the first meeting. The Mustangs came out with redemption on their minds, and the team was focused. During the first quarter, the Mustangs came out and controlled possession of the football with both teams waging war in the center. The Knights were making mistakes in the first half, but it was a Knight victory in the end with the final score being 26-8. The Mustangs have had a great season and can be proud of their accomplishments. In a rebuild season and coming in second place to a well-tested Braxton County team, the boys did pretty well. Congratulations to the Mustangs and their coaches on a great year.
In other football news, the Panther football team took their game on the road this past week to Calhoun County. With only a couple of games left, the Panthers are hoping to end the season on a high note, and it was a good start in Calhoun County. The boys took down the mighty Red Devils by the score of 40 -19. It was a great win heading into the rematch with Tug Valley this Friday at home. It will be a good game to attend, and it will be the last game in a Panther uniform for some of the boys. So, get out and support the boys in their drive end the season with a win.
