2Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; The first event spoken of here is “apostasia”.
The Greek word is defined as: defection, revolt, apostasy. What is the Bible telling us that will happen or is happening in the last of days?
We can see it all around us. Not only is there a great falling away in people being committed to the church of their choice, many are falling away from their commitment to Christ Himself. Many hide behind a veil of “let someone else do it, I’ve done my part.” The watchman on the wall has left their post. The singer has quit singing. The grass doesn’t seem to get mowed as often as it used to. The tithe seems to be diminishing and the offering plate is often ignored. Musical instruments that used to blend together in a song of praise are collecting dust.
The devil is a master of deception. He slips in quietly and unnoticed. He begins by saying “you’ve done enough,” or, “they don’t appreciate what you were doing anyway, why bother?”
Excuse me, but I thought what we were doing was supposed to be as unto the Lord. I believe that is what Col. 3:17 says: Col 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. God’s standard has not changed because His Word hasn’t changed.
Some have been deceived into thinking they can be just as good a Christian staying at home or even better than some. Does the Bible agree? Not hardly. Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. How can you exhort one another, come into agreement in prayer, be an example, bear one another’s burdens or do your part if you don’t even show up? God set the standard, not you, not me.
The Church is the body of Christ.
The right hand cannot function properly if the thumb decided not to show up. If you are a Christian, I don’t know what part you are but God would not have called you to be part of the body if He didn’t think you were important. Perhaps no one notices the contribution you make. I didn’t pay attention to the contribution my kidneys make today but believe me, I’m sure glad they are doing their part. It’s a new year. Do like David did and when he was discouraged he built himself up and kept going. God called you to be part of the body of Christ. Do your part.
