Some believe that once you are saved that you can never be lost.
Others believe that you can backslide and go to hell. One of them must be wrong. Since God is the judge we need to know what He believes or thinks. How can we find that out? He has given us the answer and it is in His Word, the Holy Bible. Opinions don’t matter but His Word does.
1Co 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. Fall from what? Since we are saved by grace, it is possible to fall from grace.
Ro 11:20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: 21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. 22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. If God who did not spare His chosen people, the Jew, who refused to believe, He will not spare anyone else who comes to that place. They could not be broken off if they were not already in.
Heb 12:25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: If we to refuse to accept any of His Word we would be turning away. As an example; if we refused to forgive someone we would be turning away from what He said. Mr 11:26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. 2Th 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; Did you notice it speaks of them that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ?
Heb 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
Some say you cannot backslide. Is it true? The prophet Jeremiah spoke of Israel backsliding and mentioned it 13 times But there is good news. Jer 3:12 Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever. God is merciful and when we have fallen from grace, if we will return to God He will be merciful to us and receive us again. God is love and His Word does not change. Still, He is also Judge and will permit no sin to enter Heaven. Don’t take a chance. All have sinned but those who call upon Jesus are cleansed of their sin and made righteous in the sight of God. Make sure you are one of them.
